My wife agrees with the lady from Canada (Jan, 2005 review) that while these units are great and last a long time, the barrel on the new model is too big to manage, especially if you are arthritic. So I did some research and found a supplier in Western Canada of the previous, slimmer model, fully reconditioned. But I doubt Folica would allow this info to be published or made available.

This is the 2nd one I've owned -- older one is now in my travel bag, still works, but I wanted one for the bathroom and one for the suitcase. It heats up quickly, curls my hair perfectly, and lets me style my hair without wires or concerns about voltage and adapters (a great advantage for international travel). The only downside is that you have to keep a supply of the butane tanks and be sure to have a fresh one in your travel bag.

Easy to use, good for quick touch-ups. I wouldn't suggest doing any serious curling with it though. I must say, before I bought it, I wasn't exactly sure if I could carry it with me on the airplanes b/c of the 'pressurized butane energy cells'. The latest FAA regs state that you can take one of these curling irons, but you cannot take extra butane refills. That would exceed your limit of this hazardous material on a flight. Good enough for me!

I have found this product easy to use, with good handling grip and improved from older version I used before. Useful feature - one can see if gas is ignited so you don't have to slide start button more times than necessary.
Overall good buy!

I have been using cordless curling iron.....either braun or conair for 22 years now.... I currently have this one. I have hair that reaches to my belt line and curl my whole head. I am on here to buy two of this style. I really like the braun ones. They dont ruin your hair from overheating as much as other types.
