Product Rating: 5 The Facts- One of The Few Pro Setters you Can Buy
Reviewer: Vana from California  Tue Apr 01 2008

I felt compelled to write this review because of all the misconceptions I'm reading about this setter. While it's not my favorite setter it's definitely in the top 5. The new ceramic version is much quicker to heat than the older version which has probably been discontinued or will be shortly. The ceramic injected rollers give a slightly stronger curl than the older model.

Pro series tools are not the same as retail tools and it's difficult to judge them in the same vein as many are doing here. Pro tools are often not meant to appeal to the average home user wanting a quick curl and nothing more, but instead a salon environment where it will be running most of the day and must deliver constant, evenly distributed results without damaging the hair.

The setter was intentionally engineered so that the roller did not burn your fingers making it easier to handle. The older wax type of hair setter your mother or grandmother may have used may have gotten much hotter, but it's outdated technology, and incredibly damaging to the hair. This pro set can deliver similar results with less damage and it's also user friendly, meant to be used all day long. Too many reviewers automatically assume hot burning heat = lasting curl. But that's a thing of the past. The first thing you'll notice with this ceramic set is that you can touch the sides of the roller even though it's been turned on for hours and they will not burn your hands. Yet they give a solid lasting curl though the roller itself did not feel like it was burning hot. Retail rollers are not so. Either they don't get hot enough or they are too hot and damage your hair. The Babyliss Ceramic gives a professional grade strong curl, without the damage a retail setter will give.

That said, this set still might not be for you, it's quite pricey and it takes longer to heat up than regular retail setters. Again that is because this setter was engineered to reach a certain heat and maintain that heat for all day long usage. Your retail setters were meant to be used a couple hours at a time using jolts of unregulated heat. That's not exactly something a home user would much care about, the home user probably wants to do 1 set per day at the most and this unit is pretty pricey for someone who plans to use it occasionally.

Hope this clarifies some of your questions and explains some of the mixed reviews you are seeing about this fabulous but misunderstood setter.

Product Rating: 4 Pretty Good!!

I use to use these hot rollers at my previous location, Markley Salon. We use to do many updos for weddings. They heat up in less than 5 min. They get very hot. I would recommend these.

this is a great product. the curls do really last most of the day.
i have nat. wavy hair and it's pretty damaged from coloring it all the time but these curlers are really fantastic. perhaps if you have really thin nat. straight never been dyed before hair these might not be great for you...i was hesitent to buy these because people said that they don't work on thin hair, but i have thin hair and they do work.
TAKE IT FROM ME, BUY THE EXTRA CLAMPS they are nice to have, i didn't buy them cause' i wasn't even sure if i was going to like these, and now i want to buy them but i don't want to pay for shipping. so just buy the extra clips.

Product Rating: 5 Good selection of roller sizes
Reviewer: gf from Boston  Sat Feb 23 2008

I have baby fine, straight hair and these rollers work great. I tried the high setting first thinking it would curl better, but the low setting works much better for my hair type. If you need additional rollers of a specific size to complete your set, it takes only a few minutes to reheat them. Well worth the money.

Product Rating: 1 Don't fall into the ceramic trap
Reviewer: Deborah from Baltimore, MD  Mon Feb 11 2008

I hate these curlers...all I hear is how great "ceramic" is.....they get really hot and burn my fingers when trying deserately to wrap straight hair around them; and the prongs on the curlers don't really "catch" the hair to keep them tight.

The clips are good; but I left the curlers in my hair for 30 minutes and it was just "slightly" wavy at the bottom. Honestly, I will return them and get the $38 conair ones I've had before from CVS....they worked much better and kept the curl for 24 hours.

Product Rating: 5 IT DOES THE JOB WELL!!
Reviewer: Del   Wed Jan 23 2008

I bought this a few months back and love it. It split my hair straightening in half. I would usually use a hot iron to straighten the top of my hair and follow it with a blow dryer for a nice wavy look. As you may have guessed, I have thick naturally curly hair.
After getting this product all I need to do is just straighten the top and follow it with babybliss. I leave it on for about 15min or so The resulting curls are tight! BUT what you guys need to do if you havent is part your hair in the middle, take each half and roll it into a bun (Think Princess Leah) Keep it as so for an hour to more depending on your hair's ability to curl and the results will be amazing! I will try to post pics to give you an idea.

I have been through SO many curler sets, but this one is indeed my favorite! I wish they made a travel sized one. Heats up fast and the curl stays all day! Great product for the $.

Product Rating: 5 curls for my boyfriend
Reviewer: Stephanie   Sat Dec 15 2007

My boyfriend has the most beautiful long blond hair past his shoulders and very thick. I have a set of 20 steam rollers which aren't enough to do his hair without waiting for some curlers to cool reheat and finish rolling the rest of his hair very slow process especially on work days. My sister has the babyliss pro ceramic set with 30 rollers what a great set . I borrowed my sisters set to curl Jeff's hair for a wedding he was in, having the ten extra rollers was just what I needed to put extra curls in his hair for the wedding. They heated up fast and his curls really stayed in all day. Will be getting a set for him for Christmas.

Product Rating: 5 Great product.
Reviewer: Michelle from KY  Fri Nov 02 2007

I read all the reviews prior to making my purchase. These product is well worth the money. They heat up quickly and work wonders on my hair. I have a very thick & full head of hair and have yet to use the entire set but it's nice to know that I could if I needed to. I can roller my daugheters hair along with mine at the same time. The rollers also set your hair fast. I leave them in while I apply my make up and then remove them for a beautiful look everytime.

Product Rating: 5 Nice Product!
Reviewer: Diana from Utah  Mon Aug 27 2007

This really is a nice product. I love the variety of roller sizes and the fact that you get 30 rollers. Heats up well. Nice light-weight rollers. Should have more roller clamps than just fifteen, however. I had to buy extra clamps from Sally Beauty Supply. Great service and fast shipping!

Product Rating: 2 Not what I expected
Reviewer: Sonia Herrera from Las Vegas  Thu Aug 23 2007

The curlers don't get as hot as I thought and they make my hair frizzy. I guess I have to invest in other curlers now, I wish I would have known. They are ok but not worth all the money I paid for them.

Reviewer: Stephanie from MN  Tue Aug 14 2007

These curlers do not get as warm as expected. They hardly curl my hair. Disappointed.

Product Rating: 3 Not as great as advertised
Reviewer: TA from Los Angeles, CA  Thu Aug 02 2007

The rollers don't get very hot, and the curles aren't that great either. This is an average product that may work on some think hair, but not on normal or thin, and I have normal hair.

Product Rating: 1 ceramic??? more like plastic!
Reviewer: C Robles from Richmond, CA  Thu Aug 02 2007

I have long thin hair and it didn't do anything for me even at its highest setting leaving them in for 1 hour! The rollers didn't feel like ceramic it was more like plastic. I have the FHI ceramic runway and the FHI ceramic curling iron, that is cermic. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR HAIR LIKE MINE!

Product Rating: 1 A WASTE OF MONEY
Reviewer: SUSAN JACKSON from MONMOUTH JUNCTION NJ  Tue Jul 31 2007

THEY DO NOT GET HOT ENOUGH. THEY TAKE WAY TOO LONG TO HEAT UP. THE SIZES STINK TO MANY JUMBO ROLLARS, NOT ENOUGH SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZES. AFTER THE 3RD TRY USING THEM THEY ARE PACK UP AND BACK IN THE BOX CORRECTING DUST.

Product Rating: 5 Excellent Product
Reviewer: Gina from NYC  Tue Jul 31 2007

I bought the Babyliss because of the high reviews on this website. I absolutely love it! I love that there are a variety of curlers in different sizes. I can make some of the curls tighter and others more loose. The curlers heat up pretty quickly too. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend.

Product Rating: 5 Love It!!!!
Reviewer: L.J.B. from Northern California  Thu Jul 26 2007

I am really happy with my hairsetter. I have a lot of hair, it is just off the shoulder. It is so much better than trying to use the curling iron. Plenty of rollers, always have some left,. I bought extra clips because of the other reviews, but have never used all of them. It heats up fast and stays hot and the curls stay in great. I have had a few from the stores and they are no where as good. The rollers are easy to put in and don't pull at your hair. Great product.

SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTED IN PRODUCT PERFORMANCE. SOME ROLLERS GET BARELY WARM, WHILE OTHERS ARE TOO HOT TO HANDLE. THE BUTTERFLY CLIPS DO NOT HOLD THE ROLLERS TIGHT ENOUGH. I USE U-CLIPS FROM AN OLD SET OF ROLLERS. I FEEL THAT THE SET IS VERY OVERPRICED.

Product Rating: 5 Pleased
Reviewer: LAG from Ohio  Mon Jul 09 2007

These are the best hot rollers I have ever tried. The enclosed clips hold the hair on the roller and the rollers curl quickly.
My only complaint is that the number of clips do not equal the number of rollers. It would be good to have at least 10 more clips.
My only wish is that they also made a larger sized roller.

Product Rating: 3 Good, but not for me.
Reviewer: Living in Bahrain from Manama, Bahrain  Sun Apr 22 2007

The curlers worked well. Just not above average. I have long easy to curl, but hard to keep curl hair. They worked well, but not what I was looking for. I live in a very humid country and was looking for something to really help keep the curl in. It lasted as long as most. The variety of curler sizes was good. The clips are awesome. It is still difficult to get the ends in nicely so that they don't crimp funny as they are not flocked. The upright design rocked. But in the end I did return them as they preformed as well as my old flocked set.
