It is a well made appliance and easy to set up, easy to use. I have very fine, rather flimsy hair - pretty but flat and easily damaged. So I wanted to stop blow drying it cuz it gets so dried out. With this dryer I can GENTLY dry my hair... and girls with my kind of hair: I highly recommend the Bamboo self grip rollers too... I can do it myself and the hair stays on the roller! wooohoooo!
This dryer deserves all the praise. I am very happy with my purchase, and the price at Folica is great too!
I love my dryer.

I am african american and i have really thick hair and this dryer is great it gets hot enough to dry my hair which is great this is the third dryer i've tried the rest of them didn't get hot enough. I love it.

My Hair is pretty thick I have a mix of my mothers silky hair and my fathers super nappy hair. Overall my hair is thick and wavy versus nappy. This dryer works really well to keep my hair from frizzing up and it's great when it's coupled with a good setting lotion. I can wrap my hair and sit in front of the TV with no problem and it will dry in about 40-50 minutes on high when I wrap it. It's not overly noisy but its not quiet either. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and I would recommend it to others.

I was happy with this purchase. Having this dryer has made it much more convenient to sit under the dryer (I previously used a table top dryer.) I was doing too much blow drying to my hair. I think that the quality is good for the price. My order arrived in a timely fashion and as always Folica.com has excellent, excellent customer service.

I purchased this hair dryer over 3 months ago. I love it! It heats quickly and dries evenly. I am african american with tight curly hair (4a/b). My hair is also very thick and about shoulder length when twisted. My previous hooded dryer took forever to dry my hair. I wanted to set my hair with twist, braids, or on rollers. However, just drying took 3 hours and I would still have damp patches. The BaByliss takes a little under an hour. I have two concerns to point out. (1) It is big. Therefore, you need space to store it. Mine sits in a corner, but it does not bother me. (2) The hood is short/shallow. If you are looking for a dryer to dry hair past your shoulders, I suggest a blow dryer. The hood is simply not deep enough to dry hair past the top of the shoulders. I have not done a roller set so I am not sure how well it accommodates rollers. I do a twist of twists sets. Overall, I love this drier.

I absolutely love this dryer! I have used a table top hair dryer before and I could never get it adjusted to dry my 10-year old daughter's hair.
But, this BabyBliss Dryer is AWESOME!!!! Not only is it easy to adjust, it dries so fast. My daugther has extremly thick, curly, ethnic/mixed hair. This dryer dried her hair completely in 30 minutes.
And, the features are great. The temperature & on/off dial is on both sides and was easy for my daughter to reach. Also, it has a plastic shield that keeps the air in so it can dry the hair. When you lift up the shield while drying, the unit turns off! It's great!
I love,love, love this product. My daughter loves it too and now it will be easier to get her hair done!

Best thing about the dryer is that it seems to have a heavy duty motor. On the high setting it can put out some air that will dry your hair rather quickly. I wouldn't say it is overly loud nor overly quiet. About what I expected for the noise level. And the sound the dryer makes is not a high pitched annoying one or anything like that. Although the motor seems solid, everything else is cheap plastic. The base seems sturdy enough but doesn't go high enough to suit my needs so I can't use it with a chair, I have to lay down on the bed and tilt my head up into it. I'm tall though, so it would probably accomodate a short or medium person in a chair ok. I like how when you lift the visor it cuts it off...that's a nice touch. Filter is easy to get at to clean. It has 3 settings. Cool air, warm air at low volume and hot air at high volume. There really needs to be an extra setting in between the the low warm air and the high hot air....something like a MEDIUM setting would have been nice. Some other things I don't like is that the top where your head goes is more flatter than most hard hat dryers...I prefer them more round, but that's a minor gripe. Also, there are no air holes in the front part of the dryer which I found odd, but with the thing on the high setting, and the whirlwind effect the dryer has, there doesn't really need to be any. Also the dryer doesn't TILT back. It's stationary. Also the attachment to the base is not the most durable connection. I hope that doesn't eventually break in a years time. There's a little lever on the inside of the bonnet that's spose to diffuse the air flow a little bit but that's virtually useless and a gimmick. I'd say this dryer is worth about $80 tops! Much better than the $25 dollar models at Wal-mart but this dryer is not what I'd call 'professional.'

I am african american and hispanic, my hair is thick and curly. Yes I managed to put it together just fine my main issues were these:
My whole roller set head did not fit in, you have to use small rollers
The heat quality is not as hot as I would like my regular hand held is 1875watts

This dryer was super simple to assemble, it's easily portable, quiet and fast. I have relaxed hair, that is fine, yet full. I used the ionic portion for my first use. I unfortunately cannot tell if it was the dryer that made my hair shiny, bouncy and light or the free sample argon oil I received and used in conjunction with the Moroccan shampoo, which I also used for the first time. I received the packages almost immediately after placing my order. I am very pleased with my purchase from Folica and will definitely be a return customer.
Buy it. It's worth it.

I just purchased this dyer on 10-2-09. I used it this past weekend and it was worth every penny. My hair is very thick and it dried my hair in no time.

First of all I have to say that Folica's customer service is the best I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Whenever I called to ask questions I received prompt, knowledgeable and courteous information and their follow up was just as good. I initially decided to buy this dryer because of all the positive reviews I read. My previous hood dryer was on its last leg and it took forever to dry my hair. My second incentive was that it was on sale with free shipping so I paid about 116 and some change for it. I am a Haitian-American female with very dense & thick shoulder length hair. I use this dryer for deep conditioning and drying my hair. Overall I feel that this dryer does a good job of drying my hair in a minimal amount of time, usually around 45 minutes. I did find that if I choose to wrap my hair, when it was 3/4 of the way dry I had to take it down and part it down the middle to make sure that that section of my hair was dry. So now I mainly just comb it back, leave it down and dry it that way. FYI: for those individuals who have mentioned that this dryer took a long time to dry their hair-I would suggest making sure that the fan on the inside of the dryer is completely open. On the inside part of the dryer (where you place your head) near the from their is a silver knob that controls the opening and closing of the fan. The first time I used my dryer the fan wasn't open all the way and it took forever to dry. When I opened up the fan, my hair was completely dry in less then 45 mins. The fan is completely open then all the vents are clear. If some of the vents have silver thins in front of them, it's only partially open. Despite how great I think this dryer is I am giving it 4 stars because I feel that it doesn't come with good enough instructions regarding it's use. However, overall I am very satisfied with my purchase, comparable dryers are much more expensive and they don't come with Folica�s great customer service:)

i bought this product, and its not turning on. ive been trying to turn it on for a week now, but no air comes out? i am planning on returning this product, do not reccomed it for anyone, especially with the 54dollar shipping cost!!

I love, love, love this dryer. I have had it for two years now and use it to wet set my hair with rollers. I am African-American with hair an inch or so from my bra strap. Many of my non-African American friends have used it after I roller set their hair and it works fine (though the longer/thicker the person's hair, the longer they have to be under the drying). Note: I do not use this dryer when I want to wear my hair curly ... I air dry my hair for that.

I am African American and this product worked great with my type of hair. I just used my hair dryer over the weekend. It left my hair feeling soft and bouncy. I just wrapped my hair, sat underneath the dryer, and it dried my hair completely from root to end. This product is great for maybe shorter hair types.

Love the idea of a drying hat to free up hands, but it only dried the top of my head, my shoulder length hair would not evenly dry. I was disappointed. Sturdy base and not overly loud, but it was not tall enough so I could sit at my vanity and apply makeup at the same time.
I sent it back and Folica quickly gave me a full refund, no hassles. Great experience with Folica, although I would not reccommend this product.
The verdict is still out

Just tried it this morning. I have long curly hair.
It dried my scalp area quickly and gently, loved that, but it doesn't seem to blow air down very far to dry the hair in the middle of my back.... Not sure if I'll keep it or not yet.

I have fine African American hair lightly relaxed. I wanted stop using the flat irons all the time and start wet setting my hair. I decided to purchase this dryer at Xmas time as a present to myself.
I used Chi Serum, water, roller set my hair and less than 20 mins, it was soft, beautiful, silky and bouncey.
After going to the hairdressers and paying $$40.00 for a wash & set in my area, this dryer more than pays for itself. Normally it takes me 2-3 hours when I go to the hairdresser, now its just 20 min set, 20 mins dry vs. up to 3 hour wait.

I purchased this dryer 2 years ago and absolutely love it. I have long hair and it takes about 25 mins to dry. Using the ion feature while I dry my hair has added a natural shine. My only caution is that you may overdry your hair if you're not careful. I start with 5 minutes on high, then 10 minutes on medium and the balance on low. I have the ion dry feature on the majority of the time.

I read the reviews before purchasing this dryer. I am an African American female and have long, thick hair. I like to style my hair in roller sets or "Doobies". It would take me almost 2 hours for my hair to dry. I got the product quickly, it was easy to set up, and with a little setting lotion and rollers, my hair dried in 1 hour. That is absolutely amazing. I haven't figured out what the "ion" function does, but it obviously helps. So glad I invested in this product. I'm an Absolute Believer!
