Product Rating: 4 Great product....BAD design!!!
Reviewer: Chantal from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada  Mon Feb 25 2008

Wow!!! I totally agree, yes my hair has gotten caught in the vents and smells like burning hair, yikes!and where the brush connects to the handles ouch! I found that I need to take smaller sections of hair(this requires patience) I like this way better then blow drying my hair before I flat iron it. I still have fly away hair because the air comes out from everywhere within the brush. (I tame it down afterwards with hair serum). This is my routine...it might help some of you! I put heat protector all over my hair, then I section my hair (start at the bottom first) separate hair making horizontal sections, use the air brush, when hair is dry run the flat iron through. I use the Bed Head flat iron with adjustable temperature (which is great for fine hair), unlike CHI this one has 100% ceramic plates...in the CHI instructions it shows "ceramic coated" plates (how disappointing). Hope this helps!

Product Rating: 4 My wife enjoyes it. 2nd one she's owned
Reviewer: Howard from Seattle, WA  Fri Feb 08 2008

Maybe needing to purchase a second of the same product shows a failure in the product, but it's one that works well with her "fine" hair. Other products from Target (and others) haven't performed as well.

But it looks like we're in the minority here on the product satisfaction side. I guess the lesson is to be careful in your purchase. You can get 3 $20.00 ones from Target (maybe 4) for the price plus shipping....

Product Rating: 1 Bad design
Reviewer: Karen from Philadelphia PA  Mon Feb 04 2008

As many other reviewers stated this product will suck you hair into the air intake and burn or worse yet catch fire as mine did. The company I bought it from sent me a new one at no charge but the design flaw is the problem. I am sending the second one back too because I do not have the time to try and dry my hair in 1" sections as someone recommended. I would love this tool if the air intake was a the bottom of the handle like my Revlon dryer. A darn shame!

Product Rating: 1 My hair continuously gets caught in the vent, so as you dry your hair it pulls. Eventually the hair
Reviewer: Lorna Samuelson from Bethel CT  Mon Feb 04 2008

The vents on the side suck in your hair while drying, so it constantly pulls out your hair. Because of the hair going in the vent after only several uses it burned out the motor.

Product Rating: 1 Not worth the money
Reviewer: Michelle from Virginia  Mon Jan 07 2008

I was very displeased with this product. I wound up buying another one at Target for $20, that works far better.

Product Rating: 1 Aweful
Reviewer: Marie from Toronto  Thu Jun 14 2007

Upon FIRST use, my hair got sucked through the vents and got lodged into the barrel. Upon calling Dannyco, the distributor, they wanted me to pay for the shipping to and fro perhaps only to get another crappy product.

This product should be taken off the market unless the problem is fixed.

I bought 2 of this and both of them burned within 6 months. Now i am looking for something else.

Product Rating: 4 Too bad barrel is too large
Reviewer: Sue from La  Mon Oct 23 2006

Works well but it is just too large a barrel to give you much curl. Works best as a straightner if that is what you need (and want). Would love to see them make one with a smaller barrel.

Product Rating: 1 Dangerous product. Caution
Reviewer: catala from Chicago  Fri Oct 20 2006

Several reviewers talk about the hair being sucked into the vents below the brush section. This happens every time one uses the brush unless a third person is brushing your hair in which case they can work around the design flaw.
It is dangerous because the hair caught in the vents can set the brush on fire let alone destroy your hair. This brush is a disgrace and should be removed from the market.

i send back the brush

Product Rating: 4 good tool!
Reviewer: 51pinky from texas  Mon Sep 11 2006

really helps those of us who are not coordinated enough to hold a round brush and a hairdryer at the same time!

Product Rating: 4 Gives me volume and a sleek look
Reviewer: Sarah from Charleston, SC  Fri Jul 21 2006

I have fine hair that is almost shoulder length and I found this hot air brush works great. I have the large size and it is almost too big to use on my hair but it gives great volume and makes it look full. My hair actually sits up off my head which is quite an accomplishment! I like it too because I don't always want a curled look and I can achieve that straight hair look and still have volume. There is one problem that I have had and it's the location of the fan exhaust. It's right up under the brush itself and my hair gets sucked into it and pulls. It was awful at first but I've learned how to section carefully and take it slow. This brush gets incredibly hot but that's what makes it work so well. Just be careful when you are getting used to it. I have used other brands and have several other brushes but this one does the job best.

Product Rating: 4 Leaves hair soft and shiny...
Reviewer: Alexa   Fri Jul 14 2006

I agree with some of the reviews that one of the biggest flaw of this brush is that it sucks hair in..I've worked around that by not being too greedy and just take smaller sections of hair...I still get the occasional snag...but not too bad! To get the best result, hair should be sectioned with clips, this is the case with any tool!

My hair is pretty straight already, but this dryer has made my hair appear much healthier...It truly does smooth out the cuticles and makes hair softer and shinier...I always use a serum on wet hair for protection and added shine!

Product Rating: 5 not bad at all
Reviewer: alina from fort lauderdale  Thu Apr 13 2006

i read another review where there was a complaint about hair getting caught in the vents on the sides of the brush..........its soooooo true but once you get used to using the brush its actually awesome, it dryes the hair very fast and you can learn to work around that vent, from all the similar brushes that ive had in the past by far the best its a good buy

Product Rating: 1 Don't buy it
Reviewer: nichole from Farmington Hills, MI  Fri Mar 24 2006

This product was not worth the money. I returned it within the same week that I received it. You might as well straighten your hair with the regular brush and blow dryer - in fact, you will get better results.
This product was hard to use, I could not hold it easily and I kept burning my hand.
When I finally finished, my hair did not look very good, which annoyed me because I had put so much effort into it!
Stick with the $20 hair dryer brush by revlon or similar and just replace it when it burns out.
Hope this helps.....

Product Rating: 2 Great Idea, Bad Engineering
Reviewer: Variel from Colorado  Thu Feb 16 2006

Have waited forever for very large-barreled, powerful hot air brush, BUT this one has TWO serious flaws:
(#1)-- Hair gets sucked up into the vents in the handle. These vents, as you see in an enlarged picture, are placed right below the brush. Unless you section a VERY narrow (about 1”) section of hair to wrap around the brush, your hair will actually get pulled into/snagged/caught in those vents. Sometimes strands will tear off your hair and get sucked into the chamber behind the vents. When this happens, the motor will often slow down, causing the outward airflow to be weaker and less effective, because hair has gone into the dryer motor and interfered with the airflow. You’ll know it’s happening because the dryer will sound different. You may even smell burning hair. Not stressful at all. The drying then slows down. When this has happened to me, the dryer has stayed at the “slower” speed for two weeks. Eventually, it must have burned the sucked-in hair away, because suddenly one day it instantly went back up to the original speed. Still, I kept practicing.
(#2)—Boar bristles. Supposed to be wonderful. I think not. Not necessarily a good thing of you have thick, unruly, wavy, thick, medium to long Caucasian hair, anyway. Boar bristles do not grab this type of hair as well as a plastic bristle or thick, round, rubbery/flexible comb-like bristle used in the Helen of Troy hot air brushes (which are pitifully low in wattage and power but otherwise good products for touch-ups). No matter how much smoothing product I use, or how good the products are, I get flyaway, over-dried and under-styled, full-of-static hair when I use this product. Had high hopes for this one but now, after 3 weeks, it’s in my hot-air-styler morgue with all the other disappointing ones. A hair stylist could use this unit, but I’m not exactly standing above my hair when I’m blow-drying it, am I?

I had to throw my blow dryer away. This is great! It makes my hair super straight or wavy. I love it.
