I have used many marcel curling irons that are "ceramic" and this one is the best ive used. It leaves the curls very soft and heats up extremely fast, It cut my styling time by a third. It leaves the curls light and bouncy and holds for days. The handle has a rubber coating with grips which helps with slipping accidents. The push in heat temp button is handy but the on-off button is in a weird spot and gets hit while styling every now and then. The clamp is strong and easy to style with. I purchased the 1 1\4 size and recommend it for ceramic marcel users.

I bought this curling iron because it looked way different then any other iron I've tried. Unfortunately it was a little too different. I found it very hard to use and will never understand how anyone can use it.
1.) My first issue was how are you supposed to wrap your hair without being able to touch the tip of the curling iron? This can actually be taught but the next issue makes in impossible to master, read on...
2.) My Second issue was the way different "rod" verses the normal "clamp" that this iron has. This rod wouldn't be so bad if it had some type of tension but there is no control to it. It opens and closes way too easily. Imagine that you are holding just the handle of the iron and you move your hand up and down, the rod moves with you. You could then use your fingers to close the iron to bring it down but the opening of it is very complicated, my hand was just not long enough.
3.) Third issue was not a huge deal but the 40 settings the iron markets is really more like 8. It's in increments of 5. Example: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40. The button is also in a spot that you could hit easily.
Despite these complications I was able to use the iron and it did get very hot quickly and stayed hot throughout styling. It curled my hair nicely but the curls loosened up throughout the day (indoors). I would have tried other styling sprays to hold the curls better but I didn't want to keep an iron that was so hard to use.

I love this curling iron. It smoothes out my curly hair to a nice loose frizz free curl. I highly recommend it!

BaByliss Curling Irons are used by most hairdressers in Canada and used to only be available from your local stylist. I have used them for many years and find they last and last. The Pro TT Tourmaline 500 Marcel Curling Iron is wonderful, but required a slight bit of remodelling before I liked it. The guard on the handle grip prevents it from being squeezed tightly enough to hold my fine hair, so I cut off the guard and now I love it. The iron heats up quickly, and makes good and lasting curls.
love it

I have had mine for about a year. It has been the best LARGE barrel curling iron I have used. The other person thought it was to large but that is why I bought it. I have not had a promblem with it grasping my hair and pulling it. It works wonders to get rid of fly aways and frizzies. I am very happy. It was worth the money and in fact wishing I bought more from the product line when my hair dresser had them for sale. If only I could keep my friends from borrowing it all the time!

I was not happy with this product. It is not easy to use. The barrell is too large for the average hand to operate effeciently. The composition of the barrel makes it really hard to curl the hair becasue it does not allow the hair to pass through the curling section smoothly ... the hair keeps being pulled unlike other less expensive models. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
