Product Rating: 1 TERRIBLE
Reviewer: Becca McDizzle from Texas  Sat Sep 06 2008

It fried my hair the first time i used it. I suggest not to get this.

Product Rating: 4 It's an alright iron
Reviewer: Tina   Mon Aug 18 2008

First off I'd just like to say that NO CURLING IRON CAN BE MADE COMPLETE OF TORMALINE OR CERAMIC!!!! It is impossible to cut those rocks into the round barrel of a curling iron and if it was it would be wayyy moree expensive that this. With that being said every "ceramic" curling iron is plated, it just so happens that some are plated better than others.
Anyways I found this iron to be OK, there wasnt anything spectacular about it but it didnt suck either.

I must agree with the other reviewers comcerning what this iron's made of. It's definitely ceramic coated. There is a large 2 inch spot of exposed metal barrel from where the red tourmaline/ceramic coating has chipped off. Not what I paid for! This iron is not very old either, maybe a year and a half with moderate use.

Product Rating: 1 NOT CERAMIC!
Reviewer: Phe from New York City, NY  Sun Mar 02 2008

I've owned this iron for just about a year. I use it minimally, maybe 3-4 times a month. I loved it so much and thought my search for the perfect iron had ended because it was working so incredibly well. Last week, I noticed a small chip where the ceramic was falling off the barrel! I am outraged because it is advertised as a ceramic barrel iron, not ceramic coated. I shelled out the extra money to avoid buying a poor quality iron and this is what I get? And believe me, this damage is not from me being careless or misusing my iron. I am careful with my investments and took immaculate care of it. They have a 3 year warranty, but I did not save the store reciept or the originally packaging because you just don't think to hang on to those things for so long. I will never purchase from BaByliss again. There is just no excuse for false advertising and inferior quality products. To all of you ladies who wrote five star reviews- just give it a few more months and you may find yourself in my shoes.

the barrel is not ceramic. when the coating chips off it's metal and frys your hair

Product Rating: 4 Good Buy
Reviewer: Tamara Bercht from Vancouver, BC  Sun Jan 20 2008

This is my first proper curling iron I've ever purchased and so far it's met my expectations. I have long thick hair, so if that's you make sure to set aside a good chunk of time to curl your hair. My first time using took 3 hours but it looked amazing and the curls stayed in the whole night. I bought the one inch which I think is a great size.

Besides that its not fast at all to curl your hair, the results are great once your finished.

Gets hot fast. It curled my hair quick and it lasted through the day. It's a great tool.

curls my thick frizzy hair great.

Product Rating: 4 Good so far!
Reviewer: Carole from BC Canada  Tue Mar 20 2007

I've only used it a few times but so far it seems to work pretty good. I got the 1 1/4" barrel so I expect that the curls may be not so tight but when I tried using the curl spray the curls seems to come out limp which doesn't happen with my hot tools. I'm not using it quite at the hottest if I can get away with it as my hair is fine but I may have to kick it up a notch. Now I'm not impressed with Folica's price as I got it for $63 + tax (and that is Canadian money) at a salon which was 20% off the normal price so I expect a bargain if I'm going to buy online and pay for shipping. I, too found that I am constantly turning the thing off. Also the curls seem to last good but then my hair curls easily.

i borrowed this iron from a co-worker during prom season, and loved it. i work at a salon in a very culturaly diverse town and it worked on philipino and aisan hair beautifuly which i have found is the hardest to get to take curl.

Product Rating: 5 Finally no problems
Reviewer: Sarah Foster from Charleston, SC  Sun Aug 20 2006

I have medium length fine very straight hair and I highlight and color it. Over the years, I have tried at least 5 other curling iron brands and there was a problem of some kind each time: 1) breaking spring 2) surface doesn't come clean and is always sticking 3) gets hot but my hair doesn't hold the curl 4)cord kinks up easily and there's not enough cord to move freely and more. Not with this Babyliss. This curling iron does what it is supposed to do and it isn't "finicky" and "fussy". You can use it over and over and it works every time. The dial for setting the temperature can be pushed in after you set the temp so you don't accidently change your temperature mid cycle. There is no "ready" light but I find that the iron only takes a few minutes and the temp is just as I set it. Finally, a trusted curling iron that I can count on. I'd pay the higher price anyday to reduce frustration when I'm in a hurry. Do yourself a favor and spend the money for a better curling iron. This is the best I've used and I highly recommend it.

Reviewer: Tina G. from Oceanside, CA  Sun Jul 16 2006

Facts:
- The barrel is not made of ceramic and tourmaline.
- The barrel is a metal barrel covered with a ceramic/tourmaline coating.
(I was cleaning the barrel when I noticed there was a small mark where the coating happened to chip off of the barrel.)

- The ceramic/tourmaline coating did not perform as advertised even in conjunction with anti-frizz and anti-humidity products.
- The spring for the iron is extremely loose.
- The On/Off button is poorly placed.
- The heat setting button is poorly placed.
- The iron does heat up very well; however, the tip of the iron is not insulated from the heat, which makes it almost unusable if you are accessing one of the higher heat settings.
- The curling iron stand is not insulated, which may present a possibility for a burn if you are not aware.

The curling iron did curl my hair beautifully, but the curl did not last once I stepped outside. It did not matter if the weather condition outside was dry or humid, the curl simply did not last. I have used this curling with Kenra Thermal Spray and Matrix sleek.look Iron Smoother on separate occasions; both are good, salon quality products. I received the same results when using the Curlmaster curling iron I purchased from a local Sally's Beauty store.

It is possible another user may encounter better results since hair types are so varied; however, I would not recommend this curling iron in general because it is falsely advertised as a tourmaline infused ceramic barrel, when it is not, the coating appears to be composed of tourmaline and ceramic and should be clearly advertised as such, and because it does not produce the results, again as advertised.

Reviewer: Melanie from Ohio  Sat Jul 08 2006

I loved this curling iron it didn't dry out my hair like the other products I used did and it worked great for me. The only bad thing about it is that my hand kept knockign against the stupid switch so I kept turning it of. Other than that it worked great!

Product Rating: 5 Love it!
Reviewer: Anne from Concord, CA  Sun Apr 16 2006

I have naturally curly hair that wasn't holding with my "Drug Store - quality" iron. This seems very easy to use, heats much quicker, and sets my curls quickly. Also - very pleased with ordering thru Folica.

I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS IRON EXCEPT THE SWITCH..... I KEPT TURNING IT OFF ACCIDENTALLY DURING USE.

Awesome except the on/off switch keeps getting in the way. I keep unintentionally turning it off while I'm trying to use it. Other than that I love it.

Reviewer: Valerie Turco from Chicago, IL  Fri Mar 03 2006

This is a great curling iron! I have naturally curly hair and this curling iron can smooth and/or create silky waves and curls.

Product Rating: 4 Great product
Reviewer: JG from Tulsa, OK  Fri Mar 03 2006

I got this product on February and I really like it. My hair gets really soft and shiny, and the curls last. The best part is that it doesn't damage my hair. My hair is chemically treated and still looks great. The only thing I don't like is that the light doen't flash when it reach the desired temperature so I don't know when is ready to use, but it does gets hot really fast. With continues use now I know when it is ready. I gave it 4 stars for that reason. PS: Folica is a great and safe site to shop. I gotmy iron earlier than the arrival schedule, Thank you folica
