Product Rating: 3 Does the Trick
Reviewer: Stephanie from Victoria, B.C., Canada  Tue Feb 28 2006

I got this flat iron for my birthday 5 months ago and it works like it was brand new. It works as well as any other professional flat iron. My cousin had a flat iron from another company which she kept having to return and warned me not to turn the temp up as high as it could go because she thought that's what was causing hers to break.

By using this flat iron in combination with heat activated spray in conditioner and appropreate hair straightener it gives me the straight, natural, shiney looking hair I want.

I also find it very useful in styling my hair in other ways, whether it be curling it in or flipping it out.

If there was one problem with this flat iron it would be that occationally my hair get's caught between the plates and where they're attached. It's not a huge problem though.

Product Rating: 4 Best I've Had so far

I do have to admit that if you do not know how to maneuver you hands the right way [yes] your hair will get caught up. I have to say that that is the only problem I have had with this iron; that and the blades are not completely flat. As far as the end results my hair comes out amazing every time. I have lose curly hair that smells water from a mile away. I can spend two hours in the salon and come out with beautiful flowing hair but the slightest hint of humidity can ruin that. I have used my iron and my hair last longer in humid weather. These are the kind of results that I am looking for so yes I think you should go with this product.

i owned this straighter for a year and it gets really hot and straightens quickly but leaves your hair looking fried. the only way to make it look shiny is to put a whole bunch of silk therapy in it afterwards. not great. but not horrible either

i've been straightening my hair now for 4 years. i don't have thick hair, i just have a lot of hair. my hair type is wavy, not straight, but has a very lazy curl. i've been using the babyliss hair straightener now for a little bit over a year. i wouldn't say i straighten my hair everyday, but at least once to twice a week. like many of the positive reviews, the straightener left my hair smooth and shiny. i didn't leave the temp on high, i left it on medium heat about 320. as mentioned before, i straighten my hair once of twice a week, typically on the weekends when going out, or during the week when i feel like dressing up for my fashion retail job. i've recently purchased a chi in replacement of my babyliss because the straightener began to make my hair dry. as well, my hair began to snag between the blades. i don't use any straightening product in my hair because, my hair has always been easy to style. and i still don't feel if i used a serum in my hair for styling it would change the effects of the straightener because it straightened my hair nicely before.

i've decided to switch to chi because that is what my hairdresser uses & she has recommended me to use. and despite what most people have said about the babyliss being used in many salons, ive switched hairsalons about 3 times in the past 2 years, and all hairsalons have used the chi straightening products.

i do recommend this product, but i would say it depends on how often this person plans to use this product. but, like many straighteners it will dry your hair with use, i just wish the straightener didn't make my hair look fried when it isn't really.

the chi has been giving me good results so far.

=)

Product Rating: 1 Pulls my hair
Reviewer: Alma from Florida  Sat May 03 2008

When I first received the iron I was excited because all my hair stylist rave about the product Babyliss. But I was disappointed when I first used the iron, it pulled my hair every time. At first I thought I was using too much hair in the section I used but it still pulled anyway. I was not happy with it.

Previous to owning this less the awesome straightener I owned a Chi. After two years the cord started splitting and then it literally blew up. I was in need for a straightner, quick! I went to my local gorcery store and bought on for a MUCH cheaper price than the one listed here. I brought it home and was certainly not expecting it to be as good as my last one, but it is really crappy. The blades don't even close all the way together. There is so much space that barely even straightens my hair. If I close the blades with my hands it closes all the way, but it is too hot to touch it. It does go up to a really high heat and you can choose the actual temperature you want, but it is very cheaply made. If you MUST have a straightener now and can't wait to invest in a CHI, it is definately cheap. If at all costs wait for a CHI!!!

i got this flat iron before i got my new one. babybliss works okay, but even with smoothing products it dries out my hair alot. and it doesnt keep it straight. my salon told me not to use it anymore, so i bought a wigo(the red one)and it is the best thing i ever bought!!! DO NOT BUY A BABYBLISS, BY A WIGO(THE RED ONE)

I bought my first BaByliss flat iron two years ago and was in absolute heaven. I am biracial (black/white) and have very curly hair. I'm also a television news reporter and wear my hair straight when I'm on the news. Initially, I was VERY satisfied with the iron. I was able to get my hair bone straight-without the frizz in about 30 minutes, which normally takes over an hour with other irons. After about a year, the flat iron stopped heating up. I thought it was due to wear and tear (since I used it every day and carried it around every where I went). So, I bought a new one and it started doing the same thing a few months later. Luckily, I saved the box and manufacturer warranty info. I called them, explained the situation and they sent out the Pro TT model(pictured above with the red plates) free of charge. So, hopefully this model works out...if not, I'm taking my curls and money elsewhere!

I bought this iron for my daughter and it worked great but shortly just stopped heating up. Would not recommend this product as spent a lot of money on something I would think would have lasted longer.

I bought this from our Beauty Shop and loved it at first. But, after only 4 1/2 months, it no longer would heat up. The store gave me a 2nd one. Worked wonderfully, but within 5 months the same thing happened. So, they gave me a 3rd one. Same thing happened to my girlfriends. It stopped heating within 5 months. For the price, I feel the flat iron should be lasting at least 1 year.

I bought my from a very reputable salon. My hairdresser did my hair with it and told me she uses hers everyday and it is plugged in all day everyday (while she is working). Hers was almost 2yrs old and was great. I bought it, and it was AMAZING at first. After about 8 Months, it started to fill the whole house with this horrible smell of Burnt hair the moment you turned it on. It was under warrenty so i took it back to the salon. They were reluctant to give me a new one so i asked to speak with their distributer who told both me and the salon owner, that the smell of burning has been a very common complaint, and that her own iron was producing that smell. She told them to give me a new one. I brought the new one home and from the day i got it this one makes the burnt hair smell and it doesn't straigten like the first one i purchased straightened in the beginning. I will be bringing this one back also and asking for a different brand. In the beginning the babylis straigten my hair with one pass and took only about 15mins to do my whole head. My hair is shoulder length. Now it takes 45 mins and doesn't get my hair as straight as it first did. I paid 215.00 for the first one and the replacement one they gave my for free was cheaper. I guess the price has gone down. I would recommend that buyers get something more reliable as you are spending alot of money for these irons and you should not have to replace it every 8-9 months.

I don't know what all of you are talking about.. I have a BaByliss flat iron and it's the best thing ever. Here it's used in all the best salons and I've never even heard of Sedu. I should say that I have a Babyliss professional, that is really from a salon (My mom got it an outlet sorta thing that hair dressers buy from at low low low prices!) I think it was originally 250 $ canadian. It heats up super fast, goes up to 419 farenheit, has pure ceramic plates, glides through my hair easily without tugging, the outside does not get hot and has a really soft velvety covering that is really comfy to hold onto, straightens my hair immediately, leaves it really soft and shiny and just WOW. it is an absoulutely amazing flat iron.

Though I do not have this exact model (I have the BAB2569.. doesn't seem to be for sale here) I wanted to review this simmilar one because I am actually very happy with my BaByliss and was surprised when I read the less than satisfied reviews. Up until about I was about thirteen I actually had very fine and limp hair but after that my hair started going crazy after I washed it, It is the thickest hair ever and very frizzy and stubborn. I started out with a typical 25 buck (actually got it free with airmiles? hehehe) Remmington straightener, it was absolute crap. But my hair was still more barbaric (seriously) than ever. My mum as a grad gift got me my BaByliss last June and It is still working as good as ever. I have had no damage whatsoever, the plates have not chipped at all, the heat is still fantastic and it relatively quick (I go over sections of hair about 4 times just to be sure, It starts straightening right away) It leaves my hair soft to the touch and shiny.

I am very content with my BaByliss.

now if I could only figure out how to pronounce it..

Product Rating: 5 Awesome, love my hair now!

I'm not sure what everyone else is talking about, because I've had my flat iron for over a year and it still works like it's new. Hmmm. It could be either your hair is too thick and curly, you're not using appropriate products (ones which enhance straightening) or you don't clean it after using products. It does not smell; only if you leave it sitting, which is the natural thing for it to do. I would reccommend this to anyone with fine hair and is growing their hair out from a perm (like me!) :)

Reviewer: Tiffany from New Jersey  Wed Oct 26 2005

I purchased this flat iron a little over a year ago, and it first it was amazing. I have VERY curly hair, and it started off getting my hair straight in about 30 minutes .. but now, everytime I turn it on, it makes my whole house smell like burnt hair, and my hair as well (yes, I do use straightening products). It takes about 60-75 minutes to get my hair fully straight. Look for something better,

DO NOT BUY THIS FLAT IRON! THE CERAMIC CHIPS, ITS SMELLS BAD AND DOESNT GET MY HAIR STRAIGHT. I Had 2!! 2 Of these flat irons and the SAME thing happen after 3 months it started to chip, not get my hair straight, then smell!

Reviewer: Jen from Arlington Heights, IL  Thu Jul 21 2005

I will start out by saying that I LOVED the results from this flat iron. But, in my first month of use it just stopped getting hot. I sent it back and it was replaced. All was good for about another two months and again is just stopped getting hot, I sent it back and it was replaced. This happened FOUR times and the warrantee only replaces it from the date it was first purchased for one year. Very disappointing, you would think it would last longer. I was extremely careful with it, I never left it on for long periods of time, I kept it in its own drawer in my bathroom with the cord NOT wrapped around the iron, and it was NEVER dropped. I would not recommend this iron... go with a Sedu the quality is much better.

ummm...I honestly don't know what the rest of you people are talking about, but this hair straightener is the best one I've ever used. I've had it for a whole year already and it still works as amazing as the day I bought it and it leaves my hair completly straight. It was so good that I recommended it to all my friends and all of theirs still work. So for the people thats hair straightener doesn't work anymore...how about you LEARN to take care of your things! Try that..i bet it will still work! And for people with extremely curly hair that are trashing this product.....go and use a clothes iron!!!

Product Rating: 3 Not for very thick hair
Reviewer: Allyson   Sun Jul 03 2005

The Babyliss hair straightener, worked great on my hair for about a year and after a while i noticed it started breaking my hair. my hair is very very thick. it would probably work better if my hair was thinner.
