some hair straighteneres tend to do that.Mine does aswell, but not as strong as yours seems to be.I thought there was something wrong with it aswell until i went to my hairdresser who has the exact same iron and i noticed hers smelt aswell.so i just assumed it was fine. | | Reply by michelle

i have exactly the same straightener with exactly the same problem. it smells even when i just plug it in - before i even use it on my hair. i was also wondering if this was normal. what is the smell from? maybe the plates need to be cleaned?

Clean your straightener like this:
Take a SOFT cloth with rubbing alcohol on it and gently rub cloth over plates, DO NOT scrub. Do this everytime you begin to see buildup.
Do not apply alcohol directly to plates.

You can buy damp wipes from any supermarkey - baby wipes. they are cheap as well. just unplug your straightners leave them to cool down then wipe them! this method left my straghteners looking NEW. | Frizzy.
Do all ceramic hot irons eliminate the frizzy of your hair like the maxiglide? Question posted by V Mon Jul 18 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Kael

Most ceramic hot irons claim to submit negative ions (good) to your hair when straightening. I believe them because when my hair is straightened it is softer and silkier than before. So I think you could say yes, as long as the straightener is good quality. (Before I got my BaByliss I had a cheap Remington that claimed to be ceramic.. it isn't!) |
