Yes stay clear from their balancing moisturizer brands such as Pantene tresemme or Aubrey organics supply wonderful deep conditioners for your hair.
Note: after you have rinsed out the treatment follow with a deep conditioner for about 15 - 20 mins under a heat cap then moisturize your hair as usual. | | Reply by My Summer Garden

Use all products in the Aphogee line intended to be used together. After you use their moisturizer, follow up with your favorite deep moisturizing conditioner that does NOT have protein in it. | Works for Natural African American Hair?

it does! in fact a lot of natural haired ppl use it to maintain and prevent hair breakage. if you go to nappturality.com, go to the forum, go to natural hair products, click on commericial products, then do a search for aphogee, you'll see how other naturals use it and there are even links to their hair photo albums where they give detailed step by step instructions and more natural-hair friendly recommendations for the follow up deep moisturing conditioner.

This treatment is suitable for any hair type natural/coloured/.relaxed African American hair, just remember this treatment should only be used if your hair is in bad condition I.e. a lot of breakage shedding brittleness dry. Once your hair has rectified stop using this treatment as too much protein actually damages African American hair! Remember “You cant have too much of a good thing”. | Race?
Is this product for persons of any race? I noticed a lot of the people who reviewed the product said they were African-American. Does this product work for Caucasians? Question posted by Allison Tue Jul 10 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Michele

Any race can use this product especially if you dye or chemically treat your hair. Africian American usually chemically straighten the hair which can cause a lot of damage due to the frequency of chemicals and excessive heat. For this reason, a lot of people mention their race so it is apparent to others of that race that they understand the hair texture and different situations that only others with that texture of hair may understand. | Hair Damage
I just learned about ApHogee treatment a few months ago. I wanted to know if I start the treatment once a month. Should I used the shampoo and conditioner at the same time in order to see better results. Will the product help my hair to thicken up? NO STOP! Only use this treatment if your hair is in really bad condition once your hair has rectified stop using it otherwise ironically this treatment will start to damage your hair. Also you don’t have to sue their branded shampoo or conditioner, after using this treatment you should follow it up with a deep conditioner not their balancing moisturizer as it doesn’t benefit the hair as well.
Hair Routine:
- Hair is in bad condition use aphogee treatment: shampoo hair, aphogee treatment, deep condition hair, moisturize.
- If your hair is better condition then stop using the treatment if it isn’t keep using it only every
6 weeks. Also if your hair is African American you should wash your hair at least x1 a week deep condition your hair x2 a week ; use natural oils e.g. olive coconut or shea butter on your hair shafts and your hair should become more healthier and longer. | Tested on animals
I would like to know if Aphogee is cruelty free. If some one knows about it pls do let me know.Thanking You Question posted by Alvi Sun Jul 23 2006 Submit your answer Tested on Animals
I read reviews about Aphogee and wanted to buy it, but was concerned about Animal testing could some one pls tell me if this product is cruelty free and also best way to avoid blunders in using the product. Thanking you Question posted by Alvi Sat Jul 22 2006 Submit your answer Can you use aphogee more than 1 every 6 weeks?
My hair has been to hell and back and is extremely short of having to be cut from chemically processed/damaged hair. I used this product last night (the shampoo, treatment and conditioner) and could tell an immediate difference as far as not falling out when I brush it, but it's still dry. I was contemplating using it for severl nights in a row b/c I saw a L'Oreal product called "Hair-Fix" that recommended doing that, stating it would build on itself to continue and fill porous hair, ect. Does this product work in a similar manner? Will the softness ever come back?Thank You Question posted by Danielle Sun Jun 11 2006 Submit your answer | Reply by niki

After any protein treatment you need to moisturize your hair. So don't worry this product works, just find a moisturizer that suits you :D. Yes, you can use it more thant once every 6 weeks as long as you moisturize each time you use the product. | | Reply by Tamay from Bpt, CT

You DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT!!! I colored my hair last summer and relaxed it a month later, during that month I was using it every week. My hair started shedding. I continued using it on a weekly basics and it was just getting worse. This went on for a WHOLE YEAR!! Finally I laid off of it. I haven't used it in about 3 months now and it stopped. I used last week and the shedding started again. I will damage your hair more it you continue. Just use it as directed. Get a hair cream to put on your hair in between washed for you hair and scalp after get another conditioner to use until the six weeks are up. Aphogee has other conditioners and treatments you can use weekly. So I would suggest trying that. If not your hair will never recover. | | Reply by mizz twists

aphogee is a very strong protein treatment so dont over use it or your hair will break. infact protein is very drying on the hair that's why a non protein deep moisturising conditioner should be used as a follow up. This could for example could be a mixture of olive, coconut, honey or whatever you prefer. There are many leave-in products that have protein and as a result are very drying. protein is good for the hair if heat is used to help it penetrate and bind to the shaft. i suggest using a lighter protein rich deep conditioner every week or so in- btween your aphogee treatments and also look into aphogee's reconstructure. but do not and i'll repeat do not use it more than is stated. | hair growth?
Will this product help your hair to grow? Question posted by Alex Sat May 13 2006 Submit your answer | Reply by Alison

hair growth comes from within but what is really important to remember is that everybosies hair is constantly growing but when we expose our hair to chemicals and heat appliances it tends to break. So by using this treatment you can start to re[air the damamge and keep your hair so you will probably notice that the length will increase but not because your hair is growing faster. If you want hair growth you should consider taking a supplement, it doesn't have to be a specific hair growth one because in my opinion a multivitamin is exactly the same. You should also take an essential oil supplement like flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil, drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day and excercise to increase blood circulation. | | Reply by Sabrina

Wow! I have experience in this area! My hair at one time had broken off a lot! It was bad and I was devestated! My hair was three inches past my back and thick and healthy. Then I decided to dye it blond, black and red all within the year 2003-2007, along with perms every six weeks. At one point I had dyed my hair three times and permed it twice within three month period! Now I am seeing the after effects.
However, I know that by taking care of your hair, and perhaps using this product will help GROW IT.
By taking care of your hair and conditioning your hair with a good conditioner once a week (if you plan on using this Aphogee only once every month). Then in between time use a good conditioner! The one that I used to get my hair in shape was: Lustrasilk Cholesterol (Aloe Vera). My hair was back to normal! I left this conditioner in my hair for an hour and rinsed it out.
So my point is! Condition Condition your hair! Do not forget this step in your hair regimen! It is vital! If you do! Your hair will grow!
And if you wear braids! Use hair food, don't put alot in your hair. But at least put some in your hair on your scalp. At least once a week. I do it twice. When I took my briads out, my hair grew more than normal!
My hair grew back to normal and still is growing! If you have further comments email me at Sophisticatedsista20@yahoo.com.
FYI: I know this has nothing to do with the product, but I just wanted to give you a tip. | directions
the directions say if you dont have a dryer you can use a blow dryer how long do you blow dry it for. and will it be stiff when it is done? Also i am a bit ocncerned regarding the reviews that were not positive. Yes, just blow dry the hair unitl it becomes stiff. I use to do this until I bought a hooded dryer. AS far as avoiding more breakage. It wll depend on the condition of the hair. Use plenty of the blancing moisturiser and let it stay on more that 5 minutes. Use as less heat as possible, Try the entire line of products including the hot oil treatments. It definetily helped my case. |
