well ive owned this for almost 3 years and its not let me down. the durability is great.
i do have to go over the pieces twice but it come out nice.
and it never pulled my hair it kept it straight for 2 days and i could flip my hair out w it aswell.
its affordable and overall i would recommend this for some one with not so wild hair. i did my moms hair which is thick and wavy it took a while. its a good starter iron for teens and if you want something at a reasonable price.
im retiring it and gonna try a sedu. hope it goes well

I bought a Solia Tourmaline hair straightener about 2 years ago. it was the best ever! well recently my dog got a hold of it. not a good thing. so needless to say it doesnt work. lol. so i have to use my moms which is the andis. i have really thick curly [& very frizzy hair] and it doesnt straighten my hair very well. i will be very glad when i get a new one.

Product Rating: 5 i love it!

well yea....i hav *thick, curly, tangly, frizzy* hair due to perms, highlights, and overstaightening....i started using this straightener last year...it wus my first staightener....and yea....it fries my hair but thats what treatments are for...anyways if i want my hair to look pretty and actually straight I have to stand there for about two hours and thiry minutes to get straight hair..babying each peice...and then in a couple of hours,a little bit of humidity and 10 minutes running in gym class my hair looks wavy and frizy.....i think this flat iron is best for thin hair.....but its done soooooo well the past year.....the first three hours of school my hairs alright....great..but it doesnt stay like that..which really sux

Okay well, my cousin's mother works for the company Conair. I was in the states during the time I bought this straightener. I was at Wal-Mart, and since I was tired of borrowing my cousin's straightener all the time, I decided to buy one. Of course, after all the straighteners, I decided to try this one out. Yes, from Wal-Mart. I got this straightener for about 16 dollars US.

When I first tried it, it was REALLY good. It straightened my hair quickly, didn't pull on my hair. Keep in mind I bought this near the end of grade 7. Now I am in grade 10, and even though it still works, I've gotten an Infiniti Conair for christmas from my aunt.

After a little while of using it, as in after about a year or so, the effect starting wearing off. It took a while to straighten my hair ... I had to run over one little section of hair many times. My hair also became VERY dry and damaged, and still remained that way no matter any product I used.

The pros of this are:
- heats up quickly
- 20-25 temperature settings
- easy to handle

Some cons are:
- effect of straightening wears off in a while
- hair gets dry & damaged after a while
- product builds up on it ;; won't clean off afterwords.

Overall, I would reccomend it if you would use it for a short term of time, but otherwise, I suggest anything by Conair.
If you are going to buy this, get it from Wal-Mart or Target, seeing as how you can return it if you would like to.

Hope I helped =)

When i first use this straightner i thought that this is a good straigthner, but after i used it couple time it's not as good as i thought. It's took me 3-4 time to straight up one liitle section of my hairs. It's also made my hairs get more damage and dry whenever i use it. So i recomment you not to buy this Andis hairs straightner. Also i juss found out that as what they promote in here is too expensive. i bought my at Wal-mark for only $6.99. It's was the same one that they promote in here. I recomment you before you buy something online, you better check at some stores if they have the same product and check the different between the prices.

This is my first flatiron so I can't compare to the others. I have been happy with mine and it works well on my medium weight hair. It straightens my hair really well, I do use a quality straightening product from "beauty brands" store. This could be the key to getting the best results with this iron. "Target" carries this iron, so keep in mind you would be able to return it if not satisfied.

Product Rating: 5 Good for thin hair...
Reviewer: Alyssa from Florida  Sat Sep 22 2007

I've had my andis for two years, and it still works like it's new. My hair is very thin, but I have a lot of it, and the 1 inch plates straighten it perfectly everytime. It heats up quick too. It's also very affordable. I would definitly recommend this straightener to anyone with fine hair, but those with curly or thick hair probably shouldn't get this one.

i brought this from wal-mart a couple of months ago just because it was my first time seeing a flat iron with the brand name andis.. (i owned a few andis curling irons that i loved.) this thing did not get my hair as straight as i thought it would, and my hair kept getting caught somehow and snagged in between the plates....not a good buy at all!
